Last year, we saw three quarterbacks taken in the first round, and thus far, none have been as impressive as MVP candidate Dak Prescott. Despite the clear value of mid-round quarterbacks in recent draft history, teams will continue to stack their franchise on first-round quarterbacks if the value fits. The 2017 quarterback class isn’t a historically great class, but with multiple NFL teams each having their “favorite” in a class full of fringe first-round talents, it could be another three or maybe a four-quarterback first round this year.

The Browns, sitting atop the draft board and also owning the Eagles slowly rising draft pick position, will likely have the unique opportunity to add an elite defensive prospect and consider drafting yet another quarterback this year. But will they make a quarterback the top overall pick, something they haven’t done since Tim Couch in 1999?
