Hey Everyone, wanted to post a quick tip about expanding your
LinkedIn network:
From the few other posts on here about LinkedIn, I thought it would be appropriate for my next time to be about using the social networking site. Most people go ahead and connect with family, friends, coworkers, people they attended school with etc but then get stuck. The key is to keep expanding your network to create new relationships with people in your industry.
One key to doing this is joining groups on LinkedIn. You can do this by clicking on the "Groups" tab on the main page and here you will be taken to the groups you belong to and a search box. The important thing is to think about informal "groups" you are a part of. Each college has several groups for alumni, sports teams, associations all have groups. You will be amazed at how many are actually out there!
After you have found a few groups to belong to, start going through the member section of the group and connecting with them! It is almost always a guaranteed acceptance from them because you belong to the same group and its not a complete random request. You will also be able to communicate with those who belong to the group by posting information on the group. You will be surprised how many people respond and just how effective it actually is!
LinkedIn Tip: Join a few groups and start connecting amongst the members
