I've heard a lot about these terms but have not been able to find the difference between them... can anyone give me a good definition of them?

They are pretty much the same thing.
"Robot" is the generic term for a crawler. Terms such as Spider etc are just different types of Robots.
Crawling is the act of discovering and evaluating web site content based on algorithms.
